Dorothea Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Hey, Dorothea, do you ever stop and think about me?
When we were younger down in the park
Honey, making a lark of the misery
You got shiny friends since you left town
A tiny screen's the only place I see you now
And I got nothing but well-wishes for ya
[Pre-Chorus]
Ooh, this place is the same as it ever was
Ooh, but you don't like it that way
[Chorus]
It's never too late to come back to my side
The stars in your eyes shined brighter in Tupelo
And if you're ever tired of bеing known for who you know
You know, you'll always know me, Dorothea (Uh-uh)
Dorothea (Ah-ah)
[Post-Chorus]
Ooh, you'rе a queen sellin' dreams, sellin' makeup and magazines
Ooh, from you I'd buy anything
[Verse 2]
Hey, Dorothea, do you ever stop and think about me?
When it was calmer, skipping the prom just to piss off your mom and her pageant schemes
And damn, Dorothea, they all wanna be ya
But are you still the same soul I met under the bleachers? Well...
[Pre-Chorus]
Ooh, I guess I'll never know
Ooh, and you'll go on with the show
[Chorus]
But it's never too late to come back to my side
The stars in your eyes shined brighter in Tupelo
And if you're ever tired of being known for who you know
You know, you'll always know me, Dorothea (Uh-uh)
Dorothea (Ah-ah)
[Outro]
Ooh, ooh
Ooh-woo-ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh, ooh
Ooh-woo-ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
Dorothea (Ah-ah-ah)
Ah-ah
Ooh

'dorothea' by Taylor Swift hints toward a young, gay romance. The song mentions being younger and wonders if Dorothea ever thought about the singer again. The song laments about a time long past, and "it's never too late/ to come back to my side." Though Dorothea has moved on and found "shiny friends" since she "left town," the singer has "nothing but well wishes for" her. While Dorothea may have become famous, the singer is still hoping that she remembers what they had and hopes that she will find her way back to her. While things change, they will never forget each other, and it will be like nothing has changed. This is a story of a romance where hope is found that Dorothea will remember her young love and come back to her again.
The eighth track off her latest studio album titled "evermore" was produced by Aaron Dessner, and released on December 11, 2020.
What the artist means The strings are intimate on this tune, she calls out the Lady, and questions if she ever stops to think about her. They went through so much as children, but time and space have truly separated them, till Taylor took a trip back to their old hunting ground. She's still offering her a helping hand, if she needs a little push, she could contact her at any time. She shared so much growing up with Dorothea, so it truly hurts her that she's going through such a hard time. Even though they had a few petty squabbles in the past, there's still room for forgiveness and moving forward. Though it seems that Dorothea isn't in the mood for coming back to Taylor's side, it's still refreshing that she was quite willing to help.
What the song means to me This song revisits one of her earlier friendships, before all the famous boyfriends, before all the awards, and before the fame. Even though it's clear that she and Dorothea ended up on bad terms, that doesn't stop Taylor from offering the olive branch. The track is incredibly nostalgic, the production is incredibly innocent, and her voice makes it clear that the track was tailored perfectly for her. It is an intimate ballad from one of the most superb voices that you could find anywhere. I will give this song a rating of 8/10.
