No Body, No Crime Lyrics

He did it
He did it

Este's a friend of mine
We meet up every Tuesday night for dinner and a glass of wine
Este's been losing sleep
Her husband's been acting different and it smells like infidelity
She says, "that ain't my merlot on his mouth
That ain't my jewellery on our joint account
No, there ain't no doubt
I think I'm gonna call him out"

She says, "I think he did it, but I just can't prove it
I think he did it, but I just can't prove it
I think he did it, but I just can't prove it
No, no body, no crime, but I ain't letting up until the day I die"

No no, I think he did it
No no, he did it

Este wasn't there
Tuesday night at Olive Garden, at her job or anywhere
He reports his missing wife
And I noticed when I passed his house, his truck has got some brand new tyres
And his mistress moved in
Sleeps in Este's bed and everything
No, there ain't no doubt
Somebody's gotta catch him out

'Cause I think he did it, but I just can't prove it
I think he did it, but I just can't prove it
I think he did it, but I just can't prove it
No, no body, no crime, but I ain't letting up until the day I die

No no, I think he did it
No no, he did it

Good thing my daddy made me get a boating license when I was fifteen
And I've cleaned enough houses to know how to cover up a scene
Good thing Este's sisters gonna swear she was with me
Good thing, his mistress took out a big life insurance policy

They think she did it, but they just can't prove it
They think she did it, but they just can't prove it
She thinks I did it, but she just can't prove it
No, no body, no crime, I wasn't letting up until the day he
No, no body, no crime, I wasn't letting up until the day he
No, no body, no crime, I wasn't letting up until the day he died

What the artist means There's no body found, so there's certainly no crime, right? Who did it, certainly not Taylor. She's crooning about sipping a glass of wine while so much chaos is going on around her. She's watching, observing, and counting down before she calls him out. She really thinks that he did it, just that she can't prove it just yet. She's crooning about him reporting his missing wife, his mistress moving in, and how it's a matter of time before he's caught. She's telling such a sordid story that doesn't seem to have a positive ending in sight. She's singing about how she learned how to cover up a crime scene, how she's aware of all the evil lurking, and how there's so much treachery on these streets.

What the song means to me This song is a quintessential example of elite songwriting from one of the best to ever do it. She's painting an ultra-vivid picture of so many nasty crimes occurring, it's so real that you'd think she was present when everything was going down. She sounds crystal clear on the record; the production is superb as her voice doesn't get drowned out at any stage. She's doing lyrical sorcery, she's proving herself once again if though she doesn't need to, and she just crafted an almost flawless effort. I will give this song a rating of 9/10.

'no body, no crime' is Taylor Swift's version of a Lifetime movie, featuring HAIM. This is a song about true crime that includes details of a devious plot to murder the husband of Este. "Este's a friend of mine/… it smells like infidelity" shows that Este's husband is cheating on her, but she lacks the evidence he did. Eventually, Este went missing, and "mistress moved in." However, she is not going to let this pass and swears, "I ain't letting up until the day I die." With her plan in motion, she sets out to solve the problem, and with "nobody," there has been "no crime." This is a song that showcases the plot we have all thought about before. If you are a fan of true crime, it may seem a bit similar to other cases you have seen before.
