Grey Area Lyrics

No more real
No more lie
This is the age of confusion
Obliterating the lines
Here in the digital paradise

Nothing factual
Nothing fictional
Interchangeable
Here in the age of confusion
Here in the digital paradise
(So expendable)

----
Override, here on the verge of extinction
Hallucinating to survive
Here in the digital paradise

Nothing factual
Nothing fictional
Interchangeable

Nothing factual
Nothing fictional
Interchangeable

ALL SENSATIONAL
----
Override
We're on the verge of extinction
Hallucinating to survive here in the digital paradise

(Nothing factual)
(Nothing fictional)
Genuine and fraudulent ----
OUT OF TUNE AND ----

Really can’t believe there’s no comments for this song. I think it’s because people either don’t want to hear the truth, or wouldn’t understand it even if it was made into a brilliantly composed song. It’s more than just a warning about finding ourselves in a false Matrix-like universe. For all we know, we already exist in one, perhaps one many levels deep. But it’s about the real potential for the disillusionment of the truth. The more there becomes an increasing grey area of just where lies the truth, of what’s right and of what’s wrong, the more we devolve as beings, be it human beings, aliens, etc.

I have to comment separately just on the instrumentals alone. I’m not sure of the effect Maynard is using at the beginning, but quite sick! Speaking of sick, the guitar outtro is probably one of the sickest of simple licks I’ve ever heard. Just brilliant phrasing for what’s going on in the song at the time. Keep ‘em coming!
