Mad Woman Lyrics

What did you think I'd say to that?
Does a scorpion sting when fighting back?
They strike to kill, and you know I will
You know I will
What do you sing on your drive home?
Do you see my face in the neighbor's lawn?
Does she smile?
Or does she mouth, "Fuck you forever"?

Every time you call me crazy, I get more crazy
What about that?
And when you say I seem angry, I get more angry

And there's nothing like a mad woman
What a shame she went mad
No one likes a mad woman
You made her like that
And you'll poke that bear 'til her claws come out
And you find something to wrap your noose around
And there's nothing like a mad woman

Now I breathe flames each time I talk
My cannons all firin' at your yacht
They say, "Move on" but you know I won't
And women like hunting witches too
Doing your dirtiest work for you
It's obvious that wanting me dead
Has really brought you two together

Every time you call me crazy, I get more crazy
What about that?
And when you say I seem angry, I get more angry

And there's nothing like a mad woman
What a shame she went mad
No one likes a mad woman
You made her like that
And you'll poke that bear 'til her claws come out
And you find something to wrap your noose around
And there's nothing like a mad woman

I'm taking my time, taking my time
'Cause you took everything from me
Watching you climb, watching you climb
Over people like me
The master of spin has a couple side flings
Good wives always know
She should be mad, should be scathing like me, but

No one likes a mad woman
What a shame she went mad
You made her like that

Cover art for Mad Woman lyrics by Taylor Swift

Swift uses this song to reference her battle over her album masters. This is where Swift means business. With the lyrics, “What did you think I’d say to that? Does a scorpion sting when fighting back?”, Swift is here to stand here ground and fight back. This is the powerful piano ballad we are looking for and the rage anthem we come to expect with a hit Swift song. This is a song that Swift sings through gritted teeth. “mad woman” shows how Swift is portrayed like she is mad by the men in her life, but she will not sit by and let the words thrown at her keep her down for long.

What the artist means On ‘mad woman’, Taylor Swift sings over a nicely made beat. Aptly titled mad woman it sees Ms. Swift get into her horror bag as she broods over a hunting instrumental. She's doing her best undertaker impersonation as she goes after her detractors on this one. No one likes a mad woman but we can't try not to fall in love with this version of her even if it's quite rare. She compares herself to a dragon as she once again goes after her detractors. She's mocking critics in a subtle way and reminds them that she's here to stay no matter their hate and reservations. She sounds hurt yet amazing, pained yet free, unhinged yet unabated as she glides over this moody beat. She repeats time and time again that no one likes a mad woman and the fact that the man made her like that!

What the song means to me The song feels so bad but sounds so good, it's beyond art as it sees one of my favorites glide over a hunting beat and remind the haters that only one person chooses to run the pop game and that's her. The song makes me feel powerful yet weak as it touches the very existence of my previously impenetrable grandeur. I'll love to have whatever spice Taylor had when she wrote this as it's pure artistry in it's darkest form. I will give this song a rating of 10/10.
