Hollow me out, forge my mouth and my eyes
Carve into my skin, meant to be set aflame inside
To scare away my enemies until my fire dies
Couldn’t replace the sunshine, but I was placed right under the dim porch light
A lovely sight, burning bright and cut to look nice, if only for a night
But now I'm blackened with ash,
Deteriorating as the seasons pass
Now I’m just part of your past
I once burned for you
But how could I last?
Has my purpose been served?
How long ‘til I pass?
