Save the World Lyrics
I break out of sleep
I'm in a bedroom suddenly
The rise of the machines
Still just a reoccurring dream
I'm gonna save the world
Yes, I'm gonna save the world (x3)
Everything you see
Is gonna vanish suddenly
This is just a dream
All of the future rests on me
I'm gonna save the world
Yes, I'm gonna save the world (x3)
It should've happened
Many years ago
Mother just happened
To get the year wrong
I've been training for
The day of judgment since I was born
But I'm now thirty-four
Still working in a grocery store
But I'm gonna save the world
Yes, I'm gonna save the world (x3)
I'm in a bedroom suddenly
The rise of the machines
Still just a reoccurring dream
Yes, I'm gonna save the world (x3)
Is gonna vanish suddenly
This is just a dream
All of the future rests on me
Yes, I'm gonna save the world (x3)
Many years ago
Mother just happened
To get the year wrong
The day of judgment since I was born
But I'm now thirty-four
Still working in a grocery store
Yes, I'm gonna save the world (x3)

This song seems to be about the damage that parents unwittingly cause their children by forcing their own ambitions onto their children. Such as a parent deciding that their child WILL be a doctor or a lawyer with no regard for what the child may want for themself. Then, when the child comes to the realization that this is either not what they wanted or that they feel it is too late to change trajectory, they are left feeling robbed of their agency.
