Blue Jeans and Bloody Tears Lyrics

I am lost when I'm with you
There's no hesitation in your eyes
Baby bye bye bye
Oh bye bye bye
Baby by myself the stain
Grows more obvious
In this pain of the bird who's flying
Over roses of sadness
Baby bye bye bye
Oh bye bye bye
Baby summer's gone
It's gone for the both of us
And tears will always have wet eyes
I'll cry but I'll survive
On a mission
I will let you go forever
Blue jeans and bloody tears
Blue jeans and bloody tears
There's no life without your life in misery
Blue jeans and bloody tears
Don't give up on a precious summer
Rolling in the moonshine
Baby by bye-bye
Oh by bye-bye
Baby let me go
So close to the holy ground
Tears will always have wet eyes
I'll cry but I'll survive
On a mission
I will let you go forever
Blue jeans and bloody tears
Blue jeans and bloody tears
There's no life without your life in misery
Blue jeans and bloody tears
Don't break my heart - It's powerless
This magic is in spite of me
Don't keep me hanging on
Keep me hanging on
Keep me hanging on
I will let you go forever
Blue jeans and bloody tears
Blue jeans and bloody tears
Blue jeans and bloody tears
There's no life without your life in misery
Blue jeans and bloody tears
Blue jeans and bloody tears
Blue jeans and bloody tears
There's no life without your life in misery
Blue jeans and bloody tears

Cover art for Blue Jeans and Bloody Tears lyrics by Sweaty Machines

I know it's random and isn't supposed to make any sense but I felt like it could be used as a demonstration that if you try hard enough, you can find meaning in anything.

My understanding of the song is that it is about a break up that the Sweaty Machines found difficult to go through, to the point of preparing themselves to kill their ex lover: indeed, we can feel their confusion, their obsession and their hatred in the lyrics, as we'll see below.

"I am lost when I'm with you There's no hesitation in your eyes Baby bye bye bye Oh bye bye bye"

This verse illustrates the feeling you have when your loved one told you they want to break up, but still remains in touch, and you're desperately looking for some demonstration of affection, some sign that they changed their mind or still love you, refusing to accept the end of your romance; until you realize that there truly is no hesitation in their eyes, no second thought processing; until you then resign yourself to the separation.

"Baby by myself the stain Grows more obvious In this pain of the bird who's flying Over roses of sadness"

This passage illustrates the sadness and loneliness that the Sweaty Machines go through: they're trying to get over it, but are still frail and get sort of caught up in the trap of depression, which then spreads in their hearts.

"Baby summer's gone It's gone for the both of us"

Summer refers to the peak of their romance, that has now ended.

"And tears will always have wet eyes I'll cry but I'll survive On a mission I will let you go forever"

In this verse, the Sweaty Machines are taking their decision to kill their ex lover: they're on a mission, to let them go forever. Even though it will be painful for them and will make them cry, they're implying that they will get over it eventually. The tears mentionned here are the same that are described below, the "bloody" ones, which is a metaphore for drops of blood, causing fear/despair and so wet eyes for the victim.

"Blue jeans and bloody tears"

Here we can hear a depiction of what the Sweaty Machines see while killing or planning to kill their ex: in the confusion caused by the event, their brain will focus on the blue jeans that is wearing their victim, stained with blood drops running down the corpse. The sentence is repeated many times as it is a flashback of this life changing event.

"There's no life without your life in misery" These lyrics, which will be repeated a lot in the song and especially in the end, appears to be a way to reassure themselves that they did the right thing: they "had" to put their ex into misery in order to live fully themselves.

"Don't give up on a precious summer Rolling in the moonshine Baby by bye-bye Oh by bye-bye"

In this verse, the Sweaty Machines are (late) warning their ex that they shouldn't have break up with them, since what they had at that time was precious. The fact that it is a season also implies that though it would have come to an end anyway, it would also be reborn later. The following part of the verse seems to be refering to the memory of a night ride that was dear to the Sweaty Machines, trying to revive it, both to remember happy times and to make their ex feel guilty for ruining it.

"Baby let me go So close to the holy ground Don't break my heart - It's powerless This magic is in spite of me Don't keep me hanging on Keep me hanging on Keep me hanging on"

This last part seems to describe the haunting of the Sweaty Machines by their ex, just when they thought they could live with what they did - so close to forgiveness. They're begging them not to break them or their heart again, and try to convince them that it's useless by saying that their heart is broken already and with no power left. They then ask them to stop their teasing and just advenge themselves already, then change their mind and beg for the suspense to go on, wether because it means they won't die yet or because it keeps them suffering a pain they're familiar with, and that allows them to keep on mourning.
