I believe the meaning behind this song is that a guy is in love with a girl but has a deep secret, and the guy doesn't care what she says, That he's going to the Darkside with her. This is just my opinion BTW, I'm just predicting the meaning behind this song.
I think the singer is singing from the point of view of the drug. He is literally the (insert drug here).\n\n"You would leave, but you need me to numb the pain\nYou\'re possessed and you slept through another day\nYou don\'t feel the same\nAnd I don\'t have the strength to stay"\n\nAs in the drug that made her feel whatever, is wearing off as he doesn\'t have the strength to stay. \n\nJust an idea I thought I would throw out there.
For me, thins song represents someone who\'s decided to get in to a relationship with someone, knowing full well what they\'re in-for. I feel it represents a situation where you know you\'re not \'supposed\' to fall for someone, but you do. In this song, it\'s almost all drug related... being with someone with an addiction. "Im going to the darkside with you", "her mouth tastes like medicine", "Celebrate, medicate \'til we numb the pain" ... all seems pretty clear to me! Starting a relationship with someone who has their addiction and demons, and you\'re willing to take the journey with them... even though you know it\'s not a wise decision.
