Old Lady Lyrics

An old lady crosses the street
And as she waves to me, I don't see her
And I know that one day I

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

And how I miss my mother's mother
She became a stranger, but I still love her
And I hope, I hope she returns

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

Now the day came when we left her
We couldn't say goodbye, and I know that I was wrong
But I hope that she knows

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

Cover art for Old Lady lyrics by Lumineers, The

I wanted some input. I’ve been listening to all things Lumineers during this pandemic. Seriously, every time I listen to music, its them. I do this...

But I just “heard” this song today. I’ve listened to it over and over like 5 times now. It feels sad and regretful and they’re putting words they can to it. Based on what I know about this III album, I imagine it’s out of their control, the leaving. But the gma meant something stable to them. Their life was chaotic and eventful, but they remember the stability she represented. It meant something to them.

Maybe they let her down, but it’s kind of like a prayer with no words. We all know our own hearts and our own intentions. He’s sorry but can’t say it. Idk, what do you think? I think they wish they’d made her feel more important to them. And now they can’t or they don’t know where to start.
