This world can look so much different
when you invent a better life inside your head
The stick in the water’s been half wet for years
I used to think clear now that head never rears
and all who cared, have slowly disappeared
(She said) ‘This life is already gone. It’s time to move on’
From down here the streetlights
look like stars that shine from miles away
Everything that others take for granted I cannot attain
All of those thoughts have gone far away
Like yesterday’s
The coldest light can still burn bright in vain
But these thoughts keep occurring that mislead the mind
Looking at them all through a distorted eye
When life is hype, enablers pacify
The counselors’ words were all lost
on these chemical laced thoughts
From down here the streetlights

Am I delusional, thinking this ruse has a chance?
When high tide comes, they’ll wash away
this house of sand
This life’s not already gone
