Cracked Plaster Lyrics
Take your words
And throw them to the sea
Drift away
They're slipping out of reach
Away from me
Away from reach
Far away there'll be a place you'll see
To make you change your mind
Or else it'll make you blind
Claw the walls
In hope you'll hear the call
Cracked plaster
It chips and then it falls
So stay away from me
Away from reach
Far away there'll be a place you'll see
To make you change your mind
Or else it'll make you blind
Oh Lord, empire of dust
Away from me
Away from reach
Far away there'll be a place you'll see
To make you change your mind
Or else it'll make you blind
Cracked plaster falls to dust
And throw them to the sea
Drift away
They're slipping out of reach
Away from me
Away from reach
Far away there'll be a place you'll see
To make you change your mind
Or else it'll make you blind
In hope you'll hear the call
Cracked plaster
It chips and then it falls
So stay away from me
Away from reach
Far away there'll be a place you'll see
To make you change your mind
Or else it'll make you blind
Oh Lord, empire of dust
Away from reach
Far away there'll be a place you'll see
To make you change your mind
Or else it'll make you blind
Cracked plaster falls to dust

I recently talked about this song on Reddit, so thought I'd pasted the relevant section here:
"The two 43DM albums were originally part of one and carried a wider narrative, following a shut-in character fearing the outside world, the people in it, and cowering in fear in a dilapidated flat, with the hint that this was the surviving character from the preceding album, Devil Road.
That idea mostly got shelved when the album was split into two, but it's not hard to see what was there as Cracked Plaster still has an air of isolationism about it. Specifically focus was built in the concept of someone who's domain has crumbled, and they are unwilling/unwanting to take the steps to fix it, perhaps even further damaging themselves in the process. Note that what exactly has been lost is left ambiguous, whether it is a physical thing such as property, or something more like a friendship, is not defined as it's not relevant to the subject of the song: the person who has lost it has shut themselves out, are unwilling to co-operate, and are actively pushing people away. There is a hint that some salvation is possible, but they are unwilling to put the work in, and even concede that it might be too late to even pull off, perhaps just wishful thinking. It's not clarified in the song what role the recipient of the lyrics in this song plays - whether they were the person who were wronged, or just someone trying to help out. I personally gravitate towards the latter, but it's open to both.
Despite the concept it's not done in an aggressive way, but more of a sombre "this is over" manner, hence why I gravitated towards imagery of places devoid of people.
The imagery of Cracked Plaster came from my own issues with damp in my house. You can plaster over it all you want, but if you don't fix the underlying issue it'll keep on cracking and falling apart. This was briefly used literally in the full 43DM album for the apartment, but is more just used for imagery here."
