I'll Make You Sorry Lyrics

I'll make you sorry
I'll make you sorry

Am I losing faith in my own anger?
I forgot to punch max out on my own
You drive my sin, this blue bullet hit me hard
When stimuli stays, I can't feel you, you're too far

Talk to me in whispers with bad intention
So many of us lie but you're not the worst
You drive my sin, this blue bullet hit me hard
Sweet to the taste, I can't feel you, you're too far

I once was in love before I knew you
But I've given up
I once was in love before you

Spell my name with sand and suck up the salt air
Dug deep beyond our world, a vision of hope
You drive my sin, bounce like glass against a flame
Where future structures fail, their ruins write your name

I once was in love before I knew you
But I've given up
I once was in love before you

I once was in love before I knew you
But I've given up
I once was in love before you

I'll make you sorry
I'll make you sorry
I'll make you sorry
I'll make you sorry

I once was in love before I knew you
But I've given up
I once was in love before you

I once was in love before I knew you
But I've given up
I once was in love before you

I'll make you sorry
I'll make you sorry
I'll make you sorry
I'll make you sorry

Cover art for I'll Make You Sorry lyrics by Screaming Females

This song is a about the aftermath and resurgence of barbiturate addiction. The writer looks forward without hope for love after taking 'max' 'blue bullets' (doses of barbiturates near the lethal dose). The drug, with its poorly understood depressant and hypnotic mechanisms for anxiety relief, at high doses increases 'anger', causing many to appear outwardly to be ungrounded from reality, slurring their speech, and exhibiting physically ineptitude at navigating the world.

'I'll make you sorry', is the drug speaking to the songwriter in the future, as she is unable to find love, build stable 'future structures' in her life, and ultimately, she gives up hope that the 'sand' that meaning is written in won't be washed away.

Sadly, like many songs about struggling with the aftermath of drug abuse, the writer looks back at the sinful pleasure of abuse, the surety of absolution in relapse, and the sorrow and hollowness of sobriety after addiction.

@Bluebulltoo As a person in recovery myself, really appreciate your interpretation. Thank you. Criminally underrated songwriting and sound from this band.
