Black Madonna Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Soft glow on the city
She said, "There's no one here who can touch you now"
Caught the last flight out of LAX
With your one-way ticket, New York-bound
[Pre-Chorus]
Club so high, don't make a sound
Don't you forget what goes up must come down
Club so high, tell me how it feels
[Chorus]
Call me when you're ready to be real
Black Madonna, hallelujah
Makes no difference here, so let's be real
Black Madonna, my black flower
Nowhere left to run, nowhere left to hide
You're not havin' fun, I think that you should ride
Call me when you're ready to be real
Black Madonna, my hallelujah
[Verse 2]
On the phone you sound shifty
You say that you're at home, alone right now
But in the background there's a muffled laugh
As you spin that wool and bullet down
[Pre-Chorus]
Club so high, don't hear a sound
Don't you forget what goes around, comes around
Club so high, tell me how to feel
[Chorus]
Call me when you're ready to be real
Black Madonna, hallelujah
Makes no difference here, so let's be real
Black Madonna, my black flower
Nowhere left to run, nowhere left to hide
Says it should be gone, at least it was this time
Call me when you're ready to be real
Black Madonna, my hallelujah
[Chorus]
Call me when you're ready to be real
Black Madonna, hallelujah
Makes no difference here, so let's be real
Black Madonna, my black flower
Nowhere left to run, nowhere left to hide
You're not havin' fun, I think that you should ride
Call me when you're ready to be real
Black Madonna, my hallelujah

I was jaw-dropped listening to this song for the first time and whenever it's on I'm vibing in it so softly, definitely it's one of the best I've ever listened to. However, I tried so much to come with a comprehensive, acceptable explanation that could be perfectly balanced with these amazing vibes I'm always getting, so I read a lot so I can say my piece on it.
Firstly, I think there's a dual here between this girl and here friend/boyfriend/lover, whoever he is idk but he's definitely caring for her. We're in the first two lines feel what she feels, "the soft glow", like there are no such interesting things or "highs" as before, then she literally says "no one here touching her", I actually didn't come to knowing what "touching" stands for, but it should be connected somehow to her "highs" and "climbing". She decides to leave town to somewhere more lively so she took a one-way flight for LA to New York.
Here we come to the part of the male thoughts take the lead, he's stating that climbing so high must be followed with coming down, he simply condenses the outcome of all her wrongs, and it doesn't matter how fucking good it feels or how she tell him it feels, it's the same, the same. "Call me when you ready to be real" This is by far my best line in the song, he's boldly yet so delicately saying she ought to get rid of all the absurd stuff and find a life, and I also get the allusion of him "leaving the door open" for her, he's tough but not punitive nor harsh. I had thought that this (Black Madonna) thing is implying a kind of cult-cultural thingy and I had, and kinda still have, no idea about what it is or what it implies, nevertheless, I now think it's a metaphor of a person who's pretending to be someone else. Black Madonna is considered to be a black "version" of marry mother of jesus, but she's not her! He continues on the tone of "you deserve more than that" and in some point she'll discover that there's nowhere else would be suitable for her doings. Naming her black flower is kinda vague too, and idk if it's related to Black Madonna but if I'm to say of it, I honstly think that he's giving her a praise-slander metaphor of flower meaning she's good and black referring to the way she's living her life. The whole phone scene is pretty obvious and overt for me. He's calling, she's in the middle of something else "not so much pleasing for him", but she denies, and he senses that she's a liar!
I cannot tell how I really adore this song and I hope I got anything right of it.
