Old Town Road (Remix) Lyrics
[Intro: Billy Ray Cyrus]
Oh, oh-oh
Oh
[Refrain: Billy Ray Cyrus]
Yeah, I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road
I'm gonna ride 'til I can't no more
I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road
I'm gonna ride 'til I can't no more
(Kio, Kio)
[Verse 1: Lil Nas X]
I got the horses in the back
Horse tack is attached
Hat is matte black
Got the boots that's black to match
Ridin' on a horse, ha
You can whip your Porsche
I been in the valley
You ain't been up off that porch, now
[Chorus: Lil Nas X]
Can't nobody tell me nothin'
You can't tell me nothin'
Can't nobody tell me nothin'
You can't tell me nothin'
[Verse 2: Lil Nas X]
Ridin' on a tractor
Lean all in my bladder
Cheated on my baby
You can go and ask her
My life is a movie
Bull ridin' and boobies
Cowboy hat from Gucci
Wrangler on my booty
[Chorus: Lil Nas X]
Can't nobody tell me nothin'
You can't tell me nothin'
Can't nobody tell me nothin'
You can't tell me nothin'
[Refrain: Lil Nas X]
Yeah, I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road
I'm gonna ride 'til I can't no more
I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road
I'm gonna ride 'til I can't no more
[Verse 3: Billy Ray Cyrus]
Hat down, cross town, livin' like a rockstar
Spent a lot of money on my brand new guitar
Baby's got a habit: diamond rings and Fendi sports bras
Ridin' down Rodeo in my Maserati sports car
Got no stress, I've been through all that
I'm like a Marlboro Man so I kick on back
Wish I could roll on back to that old town road
I wanna ride 'til I can't no more
[Outro: Lil Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus]
Yeah, I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road
I'm gonna ride 'til I can't no more
I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road
I'm gonna ride 'til I can't no more
Oh, oh-oh

I feel like this is about a young adult approaching middle age, struggling with breaking ways with their family to make their own way in the world...
"I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road I'm gonna ride 'til I can't no more"
The refrain to the song, and a personal statement from Lil Nas X. This is a metaphor for following his family's old and outdated traditions (such as travel by horse is), until he can't no more.
"Ridin' on a horse, ha You can whip your Porsche I been in the valley You ain't been up off that porch, now"
Life may be easy for the well-to-do with family money, but he's been in the places where it's difficult to succeed (every valley city in the world) and made it, and they've been resting on the laurels of their family's money.
"Hat down, cross town, livin' like a rockstar Spent a lot of money on my brand new guitar Baby's got a habit: diamond rings and Fendi sports bras Ridin' down Rodeo in my Maserati sports car"
He's getting ahead in the world in his own way.
"Got no stress, I've been through all that I'm like a Marlboro Man so I kick on back Wish I could roll on back to that old town road I wanna ride 'til I can't no more"
At a certain point in life, everything that used to stress you out becomes the new normal and you get used to living with that uncertainty... but it's normal to wish you were back under your family's wing again, until you remember why you left in the first place.

The artist seems to have a desire to get away from it all, including himself. He cheated on his baby, lives life as a film star - yet wants to get away from it all.
I think he feels he's seen it all and doesn't feel like anybody can help him or advise him. There is no getting away from yourself and your mistakes other than facing up to it all directly. Whether on horseback or not.
I'm crazy about this remix. The vocals are so smooth and the bass/beats. What I love most is that it cuts across ages. My son loves this as much as I do.
"I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road I'm gonna ride 'til I can't no more"
The narrator is a cad, a miscreant and a knave in all respects. Apart from these demonstrable attributes, one can perhaps forgive the sorry soul for posturing as a sort of faux-cowboy.
He cheated on his baby with a man.
