Masquerade Lyrics

There's a man in a cell with a mask on his face
He was taken from the, from the final masquerade
No more enemies, only demons left to fear
This is the end, the final revolution

He stands facing the wall, forget the old war
All the memories, all the pain that we came for
And now the mask it fades, revealing for all to see
His closing memories of a price that he pays for

Under the full moon, winter sky
I saw a soldier walk on by
He sang an anthem, a song for free
As he went up, to eternity

In all his dreams, before this hopeless night
He saw a thousand soldiers in twilight
They sang an anthem, a song for free
As they went up to eternity

This is the end...
This is... the final revolution

Open the skies
Open the gates
Don't leave me out
Open the gates

There's a man in a cell with a mask on his face
He was taken from the, from the final masquerade
And now the mask it fades, revealing for all to see
This is the end, the final revolution

Under the full moon, winter sky
I saw a soldier walk on by
He sand an anthem, a song for free
As he went up, to eternity

In all his dreams, before this hopeless night
He saw a thousand soldiers in twilight
They sang an anthem, a song for free
As they went up, to eternity

There's a man in a cell with a mask on his face He was taken from the, from the final masquerade No more enemies, only demons left to fear This is the end, the final revolution

[Its a general of war putting a show of weakness to his enemy who was captured and is dying from inflicted wounds. Alone in his cell he waits for death and is tormented of the lives he took.] ["mask" may referrer the facial expression he shows to his enemy not an actual mask ]

He stands facing the wall, forget the old war All the memories, all the pain that we came for And now the mask it fades, revealing for all to see His closing memories of a price that he pays for

[Here the narrator shows expression as if he knew the dying general as if he is telling a story that was already past. On his final breaths, the general expresses emotional sadness or depression. He finally breaks in sadness. "The knowledge of death changes everything." ~ John Kramer.]

Under the full moon, winter sky I saw a soldier walk on by He sang an anthem, a song for free As he went up, to eternity

[As death comes closer to him, he begins to sing a favorite tune (maybe whistle or hum) and sees the spirits of his dead platoon walk past him. The pain from his inflicted wounds not bother much anymore since the cold numbs everything around him. He finally dies.]

In all his dreams, before this hopeless night He saw a thousand soldiers in twilight They sang an anthem, a song for free As they went up to eternity

[The brain is the last organ to die. As he dies he sees his platoon sing the tune and they walk to eternity.]

This is the end... This is... the final revolution

Open the skies Open the gates Don't leave me out Open the gates

[Somehow he is denied eternity. It might have been that the general overthrew his own government and became a traitor to his own.]

There's a man in a cell with a mask on his face He was taken from the, from the final masquerade And now the mask it fades, revealing for all to see This is the end, the final revolution

Under the full moon, winter sky I saw a soldier walk on by He sand an anthem, a song for free As he went up, to eternity

In all his dreams, before this hopeless night He saw a thousand soldiers in twilight They sang an anthem, a song for free As they went up, to eternity
