This song is about heroin addiction. It seems that a friend of the writer has become addicted to heroin and his life is falling apart but 'it doesn't matter' to Harry. All he cares about is the drug. His friend tries to make him change but the effort is a futile as seeking a needle in a haystack - hence the clever pun
