Song For Pahaquarry, NJ Lyrics
What is like to vote yourself right out of existence?
Pahaquarry, Pahaquarry
Tally 2-0, no abstentions
Pahaquarry, Pahaquarry
What is like to be so thoroughly abandoned?
Pahaquarry, Pahaquarry
A relic of something that no longer fits here
Pahaquarry, Pahaquarry
What is it like to vote yourself right out of existence?
I think I know, I think I know
A relic of something that no longer fits here
I think I know, I think I know
What is it like to have your nearest neighbor seven miles of bad road away?
I think I know, if I disregard all of the strangers I pass by on the sidewalk everyday
The world is just one endless core of engineers
I think I know, I think I know
The world is just one damning bag of tears
I think I know, Pahaquarry
Pahaquarry, Pahaquarry
Tally 2-0, no abstentions
Pahaquarry, Pahaquarry
Pahaquarry, Pahaquarry
A relic of something that no longer fits here
Pahaquarry, Pahaquarry
I think I know, I think I know
A relic of something that no longer fits here
I think I know, I think I know
I think I know, if I disregard all of the strangers I pass by on the sidewalk everyday
I think I know, I think I know
The world is just one damning bag of tears
I think I know, Pahaquarry

One, I love how this song takes the true event of the dissolution of the Pahaquarry township and makes it extremely relatable. Two, although it's a Pennsylvania legend, I love the reference to the mythical Squonk in the second to last line.
