The more you listen to this song, you realize it’s highly manipulative. “I know I've had you troubled, And I know I've seared your mind, But you know that I love you, And that our love's not blind” - he’s messed with her head and he knows it. He knows He’s messed with her mind. “I'm sure my dreams lie with you, But I've many more besides, And if I can't see them through, Our love will slowly die” - he saying to her that he’s sure his dreams lie with her, but he’s really not sure. He’s assuring her and most probably trying to convince himself that she’s the one his dreams lie with. He’s saying if she doesn’t stay and give him chances after he’s messed with her mind, their love will slowly die, he’s putting the blame on her for the relationship not working out because she’s hesitant on giving him another chance because he keeps f-ing with her head. “ Love with your, dare I say forever” - he wants her to love him through the games he plays with her heart forever. He never says to love him with her heart. Which is a dead giveaway that he’s in this relationship for all the wrong reasons and she’s just a placemat for now.
