When everyone you thought you knew
Deserts your fight, I'll go with you
You're facin' down a dark hall
I'll grab my light

And go with you, I'll go with you
I'll go with you, I'll go with you
I'll go with you, I'll go with you
I'll go with you, I'll go with you

Surrounded and up against a wall
I'll shred 'em all and go with you
When choices end, you must defend
I'll grab my bat

And go with you, I'll go with you
I'll go with you, I'll go with you, yeah

Stay with me, no, you don't need to run
Stay with me, my blood, you don't need to run
Stay with me, no, you don't need to run
Stay with me, my blood, you don't need to run

If there comes a day
People posted up at the end of your driveway
They're callin' for your head and they're callin' for your name
I'll bomb down on 'em, I'm comin' through
Do they know I was grown with you?
If they're here to smoke, know I'll go with you
Just keep it outside, keep it outside, yeah

Stay with me, no, you don't need to run
Stay with me, my blood, you don't need to run
Stay with me, no, you don't need to run
Stay with me, my blood, you don't need to run

(Ooh ooh, ooh ooh)
You don't need to run
(Ooh ooh, ooh ooh)
You don't need to run
(Ooh ooh, ooh ooh)
You don't need to run
(Ooh ooh, ooh ooh)
You don't need to run

If you find yourself in a lion's den
I'll jump right in and pull my pin

And go with you, I'll go with you
I'll go with you, I'll go with you (You don't need to run)
I'll go with you, I'll go with you (You don't need to run)
I'll go with you
My blood, I'll go with you, yeah

Stay with me, no, you don't need to run
Stay with me, my blood, you don't need to run
Stay with me, no, you don't need to run
Stay with me, my blood, you don't need to run

(Ooh ooh, ooh ooh)
You don't need to run
(Ooh ooh, ooh ooh)
You don't need to run
(Ooh ooh, ooh ooh)
You don't need to run
(Ooh ooh, ooh ooh)
You don't need to run

Stay with me, no, you don't need to run
Stay with me, my blood

    My Interpretation

This song seems to be another genius example of masterful lyric play showcasing Tyler's ability to craft deeply layered sophisticated and thought provoking songs. My blood is super catchy, genre-blending, funky, and, edgy. The melody draws listeners in without bias and delivers deeply symbolic visuals with the disguise of pop friendly, mass music, veiled Christian references.

The greatest thing about the open sincerity of this song is that whether Tyler approves of this interpretation, or not, listeners will be able to see this as an Anthem for the underdog and having a friend's back, or as Gods promise to his faithful to protect them and never abandon on their hour of need.

The parallel to this song is the fact that in each verse the lyrics are a declaration of being there to defend/protect/ fight off oppressors or enemies.

The Lions den reference to the book of Daniel and the story of his faith in the Lions den to come out unharmed.

The mention of "My Blood" means the blood of salvation -- what can kill the body cannot kill the eternal soul of the believer.

The true death is separation from God. Though Christ's blood shed and baptism we are saved and because we are protected by the blood we as believers have no enemy that can or adversary God cannot defeat, so why would we run???

This can also be seen as how we as Christians must stand boldly and trust our faith. We must be firm in God's promises to protect and deliver us, and use this to defend our faith in Christ.

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
