Monophobia (feat. Rob Swire) Lyrics
Inside my head, there's a little place left for you
What do you know?
What do you know?
And all I want is to find out what you're going through
What do I know?
Maybe this silence is dangerous
Inside my head, there's a little place left for you
What do you know?
What do you know?
And feel what's inside you
I wanna come over
And see what you've found
See if you're hurting
After tearing me down
It's the rain of denial
It's the way that you're faking
All the tears in your eyes
Feel that I'm in slow motion
Tonight
And all I want is to find out what you're going through
What do I know?
Maybe this silence is dangerous
I wanted to hide
Now, I just wanna find you
And feel what's inside you
I wanna come over
And see what you've found
See if you're hurting
After tearing me down
It's the rain of denial
What do you know?
What do you know?
And all I want is to find out what you're going through
What do I know?
Maybe this silence is dangerous
What do you know?
What do you know?
I wanna come over
And see what you've found
See if you're hurting
After tearing me down
It's the rain of denial
All the tears in your eyes
Feel that I'm in slow motion
Tonight
What do I know?
Maybe this silence is dangerous
Now, I just wanna find you
And feel what's inside you
I wanna come over
And see what you've found
See if you're hurting
After tearing me down
It's the rain of denial

the lyrics in this song are the result of an attempt to make sense of the suicide of person known to the song writer. Its a reflection on what has happened in this situation and also what could have been instead.
This seems to be speaking from the perspective of someone suffering from Monophobia, an irrational fear of being alone. At some point there was a falling out with someone special, but due to living with monophobia, they refuse to accept it: "After tearing me down It's the rain of denial." Its kind of a dark song in my view, both parties are hurting, but the inability to let go is preventing healing and risking more harm, such as stalking. "And all I want is to find out what you're going through What do I know? Maybe this silence is dangerous."
Just from the lyrics, I can tell that the subject matter is about having once had a friend who you've never really forgotten after a long time of breaking off a friendship with them. With the word monophobia meaning the fear of being alone, it makes sense that deadmau5 just wants to find out what's up with that lost friend, why he/she fakes their tears and is in a "rain of denial" while mostly being silent about his/her deepest feelings. The "silence is dangerous" because a lack of genuine communication of those feelings can perpetuate whatever problem is going on, as though some superficial mask is hiding the reality of what it is.
A friend who doesn't talk about his issues. You are hurting and he is hurting.
