The chorus "Whose bright idea was it to sharpen the knives? Just twenty minutes 'fore the boat capsize." Coupled with the early line "Look out, buddy, Noah's coming" and other water references, lead me to believe that it refers to global warming and impending flooding, and to top it all off we are fighting with each other with the aforementioned knives, instead of doing anything that could help us from drowning. But we are all treading water, trying to keep things afloat ourselves, trying to survive, and the joke is we are all dying.
It kind of feels like a FJM state of the union, like hey you all loved that last album, lets check in with him and see how he and we are all doing... and this is where we are really at, trying to figure it all out.
of course I haven't addressed much of the rest of the song, but certainly I see how it could fit. but what the hell do i know. i'm just some human.
