Oh, What a World Lyrics
Northern lights in our sky
Plants that grow and open your mind
Things that swim with a neon glow
How we all got here, nobody knows
These are real things
These are real things
Oh, what a world
Don't wanna leave
All kinds of magic all around us
It's hard to believe
Thank God it's not
Too good to be true
Oh, what a world
And then there is you
Did I know you once in another life?
Are we here just once or a billion times?
Well, I wish I knew, but it doesn't matter
'Cause you're here right now and I know what I feel
And these are real things
Yeah, these are real things
Oh, what a world
Don't wanna leave
All kinds of magic all around us
It's hard to believe
Thank God it's not
Too good to be true
Oh, what a world
And then there is you
And then there is you
These are real things
These are real things
Oh, what a world
All kinds of magic
Tell me it's not
Too good to be true
Oh, what a world
And then there is you
And then there is you
And then there is you
And then there is you
Plants that grow and open your mind
Things that swim with a neon glow
How we all got here, nobody knows
These are real things
Don't wanna leave
All kinds of magic all around us
It's hard to believe
Thank God it's not
Too good to be true
Oh, what a world
And then there is you
Are we here just once or a billion times?
Well, I wish I knew, but it doesn't matter
'Cause you're here right now and I know what I feel
Yeah, these are real things
Don't wanna leave
All kinds of magic all around us

And then there is you
And then there is you

Kacey Musgraves and her co-lyricists are beautiful souls. They must be beautiful souls to have written this beautiful song about the wonders of nature, of our existence, of love, and of you.
The song's verses list a variety of wonderous, strange, and improbable things that exist thanks to evolution through natural selection and/or God - things such as northern lights, plants that open our minds, neon glowing sea creatures. They are all so wonderful, beautiful, and improbable...who would want to ever leave this beautiful life?
The most powerful line in the song is the last line of the chorus. We've noted and appreciated all of the world's wonders in the rest of the song, but the most special one of them all: you. Is she referring to her lover? Perhaps. Is she referring to the person listening to the song? I choose to interpret the song that way. Even more special than all of the most special things in the universe - it is you. It is me. A beautiful song about self love, and love. I am special.
This song has made a difference in my life and I thank Kacey Musgraves, and the artists who made the world a better place by writing Oh, What a World and sharing it with us.
