Altruistic Requiems

Well I’m thinking of writing a story,
But the endings no good as you’ll see
Day and night on this question I’m pondering
Should I opt for somber or obscene?
This old tale of my life’s not exciting
Hardly something you’d put on the screens
But I know with the right choice of sending
My message could make the whole scene!
Thinking so hard, I’ve been wracking my brain
How do I get it across that I’m not just insane?
Searching! Searching!
(Come one come all and let’s hear from the choir now)
Jump from a building? (Disgracefully land!)
Horribly overdose?
(Hardly a man!)
Blow my own brains out?
(God, what a mess)
Walk into traffic?
(It’s selfish at best)
Slowly, I’ll strive for perfection in dying
Like a pupae erupting from me
As the moth ventures forth from a larva
I’m an artist, here’s my masterpiece
How the masses will call me a hero
And the heavens shall weep at my name
Just as Jesus could walk on the waters
So shall I be reborn through my fame
Frozen in awe at my own majesty
Even God couldn’t teach me such humility!
Sainthood suits me!

Hang from the ceiling?
(We’ve seen it before)
Strapped to a bomb?
(pieces galore)
Why can’t I think up an end to my plight?
It’s one for the ages, it must be just right!
Solo
Come on and think
Why is this eluding me?
Wait, hold your drinks!
Find your seats cuz it’s time for a show!
You applaud as I take my stage before you all
Curtains all fall, they’re enrapt and here we go!
Tension is, rising up
every seat in here is filled
with a flourish, I toss a lone rose to the crowd
holding of, every breath
All men and women the same
The silence is palpable as gasoline turns to flame!
With a cry I’m set alight
To the screams of their delight
Altruistic till the end
Purified of every sin
When at last I collapse
(Flesh is boiling oh so fast)
This my final requiem
So never shall I rise again
Oh! Such a lovely way to die.......
