Switzerland Lyrics

I don't even know who I am
And I... I don't think that I really give a damn
'cause you are everything I need to know it seems
I trace and memorize your curves and lines until my fingers start to bleed

We could go some place alone
Don't you see
We could go somewhere it snows
Just you and me
We could go to Switzerland
Never come back home again

You like the cold, at least that's what I hear
So we could waste away the days until we waste away the year
'cause you the only one I need and I'm the only one for you
Zurich's nice for growing old and that's all I want to do (with you)

We could go some place alone
Don't you see
We could go somewhere it snows
Just you and me
We could go to switzerland
Or some place we've never been
Take this house we're living in
Never call it home again

Cover art for Switzerland lyrics by soccer mommy

I've been a huge supporter of this site, but never had an account. I deliberately made one for this song. I uploaded the lyrics and now here's my interpretation of this beautiful song...

As a person who's been in a relationship with someone for over 8 years, trust me there's so many ups and downs that when you're going through the ups, you're ok, but when there are lows, you can't help but to think of a "Switzerland" for yourself and your significant other...

That's how I interpret this song. Everyone knows places, hideaways, secret spots that are only relevant to that special person in your life. You possibly drive by them, no longer live in them, see them once in a while, or maybe they are gone, but those structures stand tall in your heart and your memories. They were there for you when you were nervous, sad, scared, happy, laughing, enjoying time with your loved one...

Every couple has bad moments, that's what the track talks about, she's feeling like she's lost her identity. She starts with saying she doesn't care about that identity loss, but what sticks out in her mind is her lovers shape and body type. Having him in her mind makes her happy and she's trying to convince him to join her, do those things that they once loved...

The second chorus is similar. She knows this person just enough to love them wholeheartedly but possibly recently met this person. Even then, shes willing to do anything to get out of the low situation that they are in.

The last two lines are stunningly beautiful. They are living in a home that she now just calls a "house". I know what you're thinking, same thing, pota-toe, pota-to, toma-to, toma-toe... But it's not, not until you've loved and shared a life with someone and experienced highs and lows and slept on the couch and slept in bed and seen your significant other in their happiest moments and their worst, that you can finally see that she's pleading for this person to have a change of heart, join her in reigniting their love and forget the stage they are in...
