Parade

The road is paved with broken promises and gold
She assures me that everything will be ok
But I never can be sure
I walk among the city lights
And though the stars are shining bright
I can't see them in the air
It's a long way to the top
And I feel like I'm never getting there
Sunlight beams across my sleepy eyes
Is is Spring or is it Fall?
And lately my world is like an upside-down helicopter
Flying toward the ground
There's a hundred things I need
But only two things that I want
I want a number one hit on the radio
And her inside my heart
I think there's a parade inside my head today
There's a thousand different things strolling around
My body's just the audience
To the show that's being put on in my mind
Cause afterall the show must go on
It seems to be darker this time of year
The snow begins to fall
Everywhere except for where I'm sitting now
It never snows at all
We all need a little Winter
To appreciate the Spring
There's a new moon in the sky tonight
And I need a different scene
