If you're waiting for the storm to pass
If you're waiting for me to forget
Then your conscience will never clear to see that day come
These wounds will always stay with me
I take what happened seriously and will always stay angry
At what you call nothing
Lies....
Aren't...
Exercises...
..and if you believe them to be true
Then you're a bigger fool than I am for every trusting you
A chameleon can never change its color
Your scarlet will never wash off
This won't make any difference to you
It'll never make a difference to you
This will make no difference to you
It never made a difference to you
I'll face you straight to hell.
If you're waiting for me to forget
Then your conscience will never clear to see that day come
These wounds will always stay with me
I take what happened seriously and will always stay angry
At what you call nothing
Aren't...
Exercises...
Then you're a bigger fool than I am for every trusting you
A chameleon can never change its color
Your scarlet will never wash off
It'll never make a difference to you
This will make no difference to you
It never made a difference to you

This song is obviously about being kicked out of Dag Nasty. Vocalist Shawn Brown was their first singer and on Dag Nasty's 1987 album, Wig Out at Denko's, they had a song called "Exercises" with a chorus that went "Lies are just exercises" which is referred to in this song.
While in this song, Shawn sings that he will "always stay angry", there is a happy ending. In 2010, Dischord released the previously unreleased Dag Nasty studio sessions with Shawn singing. Dag Nasty toured with Shawn to promote this album and even recorded a new 7" with Shawn (Cold Heart).
