Scott Street Lyrics
Walking Scott Street feeling like a stranger,
with an open heart, open container.
I've got a stack of mail and tall can,
it's a shower beer, it's a payment plan.
There's helicopters over my head,
every night when I go to bed.
Spendin' money, and I earned it,
When I'm lonely, that's when I'll burn it.
Do you feel ashamed,
when you hear my name?
I asked you: "How is your sister?"
"I heard she got her degree."
I said: "That makes me feel old."
You said: "What does that make me?"
I asked you: "How is playin' drums?"
You said: "It's too much shit to carry."
"And what about the band?
You said: "They're all gettin' married."
Do you feel ashamed,
when you hear my name?
Couldn't you wait on me, stranger?
Couldn't you wait on me, stranger?
Couldn't you wait on me, stranger?
Don't be a stranger.
with an open heart, open container.
I've got a stack of mail and tall can,
it's a shower beer, it's a payment plan.
every night when I go to bed.
Spendin' money, and I earned it,
When I'm lonely, that's when I'll burn it.
when you hear my name?
"I heard she got her degree."
I said: "That makes me feel old."
You said: "What does that make me?"
You said: "It's too much shit to carry."
"And what about the band?
You said: "They're all gettin' married."
when you hear my name?
Couldn't you wait on me, stranger?
Couldn't you wait on me, stranger?
Don't be a stranger.

I think this is about two old friends or ex-lovers that hasn\'t seen each other in a while that meet up, and the thoughts around that. I see the first verse as a description of some of the insecurities or quirks of the singer - things that the drummer knows about the singer. The singer is wondering if the drummer is ashamed of the singer being a bit weird like that and if that is the reason they haven\'t talked as much recently. Second verse is more centered around small parts of the discussion the 2 people have during their meetup - particular the parts where they weren\'t aligned already, because it had been awhile since they talked. The last part of the song to me is just that as time goes it there is time between they get to talk to each other - the singer finds that sad and reminds them to keep in touch,
The line: You said, "They\'re all gettin\' married"\nis different in a live version I\'ve heard, where Phoebe Bridgers sings:\nYou said, "They\'re all having babies"
I think this song means two friends or lovers not seeing each other in a while. I think that the lyric "Dont be a stranger" means to come around even when nobody asks. I think that it means that no matter what that people are still here for you. I think that this song is more than people think it is. I think she is trying to make people see that no matter what you would have the people that you need.
