Q&A
From The Dining Table Lyrics
Woke up alone in this hotel room
Played with myself, where were you?
Fell back to sleep, I got drunk by noon
I've never felt less cool
We haven't spoke since you went away
Comfortable silence is so overrated
Why won't you ever be the first one to break?
Even my phone misses your call, by the way
I saw your friend that you know from work
He said you feel just fine
I see you gave him my old t-shirt
More of what was once mine
I see it's written, it's all over his face
Comfortable silence is so overrated
Why won't you ever say what you wanna say?
Even my phone misses your call, by the way
Maybe one day you'll call me and tell me that you're sorry too
Maybe one day you'll call me and tell me that you're sorry too
Maybe one day you'll call me and tell me that you're sorry too
But you, you never do
Woke up the girl who looked just like you
I almost said your name
We haven't spoke since you went away
Comfortable silence is so overrated
Why won't you ever say what you wanna say?
Even my phone misses your call
We haven't spoke since you went away
Comfortable silence is so overrated
Why won't you ever say what you wanna say?
Even my phone misses your call, by the way

This is probably my favorite off of Harry's new album, despite it not getting nearly enough credit as I believe it deserves.
To me this song is one you'd write at 3AM, when you're alone and needing someone to listen. Eventually that someone ends up being your pen and paper and you feel slightly deranged but fuck it, because writing will always be the one you can trust not to judge you.
Comfortable silence is so overrated because it's not silent at all; your demons still taunt you in the corners of your mind and the one voice you are aching to hear echoes on a loop pedal in your ears. You don't understand how something so strong can make you feel so weak; afterall, how strong are you really when you're always the one caving in? You don't want to be the weak one anymore, the one who breaks.
But if you don't break, then who will?

obvilously its about maybe a breakup or rough relationship. I feel it could be about him and Louis and how rough their relationship can be or was.
"Even the phone misses your call, by the way"
idk even in Louis song "Miss You" when he says
"Now I’m asking my friends how I should say I’m sorry They say “Lad, give it time, there’s no need to worry” And we can’t even be on the phone now And I can’t even be with you alone now"
i feel like there's a connection between the two, maybe they got in a really bad fight and haven't talked in awhile. Seems like Louis might've fucked up some how cause it seems Harry is a wreck only from his songs, they sound so emotional.
even when harry says "Maybe one day you'll call me and tell me that you're sorry too" it sounds like Harry said sorry to Louis but Louis is being stubborn about it and won't apologize back.
"I see it's written, it's all over his face" & "Woke up the girl who looked just like you I almost said your name"
this song just screams gay lmao, i'm just saying. don't come for me lmao i'm just a Larry with a dream, i could be wrong but the connections between their songs is quite sus idk
He is obviously missing an ex (who he really loves still). He is bitter at the split (upset that she has moved on ... giving someone else his clothes) and is struggling to move on.
The first verse really doesn't leave anything to the imagination!!! (Most artists at least use a metaphor or innuendo for wanking ... not Harry!)
@sokorny Right, cause who needs subtlety?

haha, i differ with y\'all, i don\'t think he actually misses an ex, that\'d be too predictable for harry\'s writing. i believe he might be going through a hard time with his lover, one where they\'re both stubborn but the other person seems to not be trying as much as harry wanted, it feels like it\'s a situation of being apart from each other for too long but not exactly going through a break up, do you understand what i\'m trying to say? \nor\ni don\'t really feel like this one might be too accurate but here i go. it can also be about missing himself. about not being able to do or, in this case, say the things he wants to. comfortable silence, meaning the time he\'s alone, when he gets to think maybe too much but he knows he can\'t do anything more because he might not be able to express that. and on that line \'woke up the girl who looked just like you\' it doesn\'t have to mean about sleeping with someone, harry has shown how scared he is to show his femenine side as we hear in she or woman, how frighten he is to do things he might not be allowe to, so maybe this is him waking up to the idea of who he wants to be and feeling lost whether who that person is.\n\nidk it\'s past 1am, i\'m talking nonsense, haha, hoping someone reply to this tho!
