I'm really sorry to those fans who hate Larry, I'm not Larry shipper, but if Harry and Louis really had relationships (not exactly lovers, maybe just really close friends, soulmates), then this song might be about their freindship, and how the time and the business they work in changed them both. Cuz they first got freinds when they weren't famous, and how the time and everything they went through have changed them. Actually it doesn't really matter if they had romantic relationship or were just good friends, media and their management influenced their relationship, so they were not aloud to behave as they felt to. And after all they went through, after all the pressure upon their friendship, Harry felt what he wrote in this song.

This song is clearly about Louis and Harry (relationship or friendship). This was written around the time that Louis and Harry weren't allowed to touch or be seen together as their management forced them apart so people would stop thinking they were together. In doing so they became shells of their former self you could tell they weren't as happy, carefree because they were being controlled "We're not who we used to be We're just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me Trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat." There is videos of them performing where one of them would reach out to the other and realise they weren't allowed to touch "But I can't touch what I see" Also all the comments Harry and Louis have to make about girlfriends, Harry being a flirt and in Louis' case when he had to tweet that Larry is the biggest load of bullshit tweet "Cause we don't say what we really mean"

It's an honest and raw song of two best friends/ lovers (whichever one you prefer) who were forced apart by management for the sake of the "bands image"

Harry wrote this around 2013-14, clearly means alot to him to put it on his album. To me i feel its about a change in a relationship used to be so good and free, now somethings changed, communication is not as good. Somethings stopping the couple to not be themselves with eachotber.

i truly believe that this song is dedicated to Louis, if you don't know who Louis is, he was a band member in One Direction that Harry and him had a very close relationship that many believe they are lovers.

when harry describes this person i assume in his first couple of lyrics, it really describes Louis. "same lips red, same eyes blue" Louis has bright lips and has blue eyes.

"same white shirt, couple more tattoos" Louis wears a lot of white shirts and Harry and Louis are known for getting similar/matching tattoos.

when Harry says, "but its not you and its not me" i think he's saying its neither of them causing each other issues, but perhaps their management.

"taste so sweet, looks so real" i just assume he's describing Louis, don't have a lot of description behind that lmao. same with "sounds like something that i used to feel" not quite sure what he exactly means.

"but i can't touch what i see" if you don't know Harry and Louis were very close always touching and being by each other and fans could notice this wasn't just a friendship, but more. Their management later forced them to not be by each other or touch each other so it wouldn't look suspicions that they're dating or in a relationship. I'm assuming Harry is talking about how he can't touch Louis anymore in public.

"we're not who we used to be" Harry and Louis relationship isn't as public and they had to hide that part from us, he's talking about how different they are when they used to be so close with each other in public.

"we're just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me, trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat" he's describing how him and Louis aren't themselves anymore since they can't express themselves in public, instead they're just shells of themselves. Harry's trying to remember what's its like to feel the true happiness he had when him and Louis were so close.

"the fridge light washes this room white, moon dances over your good side, this was all we used to need" i think Harry is describing something they probably did when they lived together (i still think they do but whatever) Harry is saying all they needed was each other and nothing else to make him happy.

"tongue-tied like we've never known, telling those stories we already told, 'cause we don't say what we really mean" I think Harry is again just saying what him and Louis do, but the last part i think he's talking about when they have to debunk Larry or have to talk about potential girlfriends or whatever. He's saying they don't mean what they're saying, its all bullshit.

This is about Louis Tomlinson. Harry describes how he looks in the verses very clearly. I honestly think this is about how at the beginning of One Direction, Louis and Harry were in a relationship together and deeply loved each other, but as the band became more famous and noticed, management told them to cut it off completely because if the young fangirls noticed this, they would stop supporting the band. This song really saddens me because over time, I believe that Harry and Louis' love for each other started to disappear and became awkward and forced because of what people we're telling them and how they were supposed to act. Their love wasn't really theirs anymore and this changed them. They weren't the same anymore.

I think it's saying that a couple has been together for so long it's changed the way they think and act towards each other

Let's just get this out of the way first...it's pretty obvious this song is meant to be about Taylor Swift. Beyond that, I think it's about a relationship that was once amazing, but somehow they lost that spark. Now they are just two strangers clinging to happy memories and trying to make something work that just isn't there anymore.
