They Put a Body in the Bayou Lyrics

They never came to town
He really gets me down
Take off that plastic crown
Coke nose and a pretty sound

Alright, make it quick
Good songs make you rich
That feeling, it'll pass
Good boys come in last
Bad girl by my side
Popping pills on the fly
Gold grave when I die

I came by to see
I just had to know
Who put the body in the bayou
Who left the tracks on the road

Told me "act your age"
That's why she's underage
Said her papa hates the federales and
When he drinks too much he smacks her face

Alright, make it quick
Good songs make you rich
That feeling, it'll pass
Good boys come in last
Bad girl by my side
Popping pills on the fly
Gold grave when I die

I came by to see
I just had to know
Who put the body in the bayou
Who left the tracks on the road

Cover art for They Put a Body in the Bayou lyrics by Orwells, The

Such a good song. I'm pretty sure it is a reference to Frankie Richard and the Jeff Davis 8. Look this up if you've never heard of it.

Essentially 8 girls were murdered in or near Jennings, LA (Jefferson Davis Parish) and their bodies were found in the bayou. It seems like it was their drug dealer Frankie Richard, who knew all of them, admitted he had sex with all but one of them (the 14 year old, of course), and had tires to the local police department. Screams police corruption from top to bottom.
