Anything I Say to You Now Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Crush it up into a paper ball, let it fly
It hits the wall, hits the trash can on the side
Crush it up into a paper ball, let it go
Anything I ever had to say, it's all gone
[Chorus 1]
Anything I say to you now is just a lie
Anything I say to you now but goodbye
Anything I say to you now is just a lie
But goodbye
But goodbye
[Verse 2]
Crush it up and let it go to waste, it's not working
Sit and wait for somebody to tell you it's almost done
Crush it up into a paper ball, it's just words
Words that never really added up to much else [?]
[Chorus 2]
Anything I say to you now is just a lie
Anything I say to you now is just a lie
Anything I say to you now, anything I say to you now
Anything I say to you now but goodbye
Is just a lie
Crush it up into a paper ball, let it fly
It hits the wall, hits the trash can on the side
Crush it up into a paper ball, let it go
Anything I ever had to say, it's all gone
Anything I say to you now is just a lie
Anything I say to you now but goodbye
Anything I say to you now is just a lie
But goodbye
But goodbye
Crush it up and let it go to waste, it's not working
Sit and wait for somebody to tell you it's almost done
Crush it up into a paper ball, it's just words
Words that never really added up to much else [?]
Anything I say to you now is just a lie
Anything I say to you now is just a lie
Anything I say to you now, anything I say to you now
Anything I say to you now but goodbye
Is just a lie

I think the song is about letting emotions, like anger or sadness, overrule the actual situation. These emotions can cause a certain reaction, like saying something you don't mean. The paper ball illustrates the words being said and while the ball was aimed at the trash can it hits the wall (has another effect instead) and it hits the trash can on the side (didn't have the effect you were hoping for). "Anything I say to you now but goodbye ... is just a lie" refers to a break up, or at least two persons splitting up, and 'anything' that is being said can refer, for example, to asking the other person to stay (because of sadness/fear) or saying offensive things (because of anger). The second verse tells you to not speak your mind when you're in a emotional state like that: "let it go to waste". You have to wait until you're not reacting out of emotions anymore and can look neutral to the situation again. Because if you don't you are gonna say things you don't really mean, which has no added value: "Words that never really added up to much else."
Nice little song and very clearly influenced by ‘The Smiths’
