Novels Lyrics

In a world of places lets go somewhere we haven't gone.
We've got younger faces than our hearts are letting on.
and we won't place any stock in old days.
Lets save up for something new.
Someday I won't have to wait for you

What if I asked, // What if I asked you to stay?
What if it cost // you your heart and your last name?
and we won't place any stock in old days.
Lets save up for something new.
Someday I won't have to wait for you

And when we sleep at night I hope that we right novels in our heads of what to tell the other when we wake.
and when morning comes before we're done with volumes left to chose lets say "I love you.".
Just "I love you".
"I love you."
and "I love you too."

Can't believe there are zero comments. This is absolutely one of the best love songs ever written. "What if it cost you your heart and your last name?" Easily the best lyric I've ever heard.

@arobinson99 I don't know, sounds almost like he has lost love or that his love isn't being reciprocated. Everything is "ifs" and future tense, suggesting that their love either isn't there yet, or he actually doesn't have a lover.

@arobinson99 I see where you're coming from with the future tense. Especially with the "I won't have to wait for you" line. Maybe like the girl he's in love with is with someone else? Regardless I think at the end they are together and that's where the novels line comes in beautifully. Jesus that's an amazing metaphor. I love it.
