Let It Go Lyrics

You made plans and I, I made problems
We were sleeping back to back
We know this thing wasn't built to last and
Good on paper, picture perfect
Chased the high too far, too fast
Picket white fence, but we paint it black

Ooh, and I wished you had hurt me harder than I hurt you
Ooh, and I wish you wouldn't wait for me but you always do

I've been hoping somebody loves you in the ways I couldn't
Somebody's taking care of all of the mess I've made
Someone you don't have to change
I've been hoping
Someone will love you, let me go
Someone will love you, let me go
I've been hoping
Someone will love you, let me go

It's been some time, but this time ain't even
I can leave it in the past
But you're holding on to what you never had
Good on paper, picture perfect
Chased the high too far, too fast
Picket white fence, but we paint it black

Ooh, and I wished you had hurt me harder than I hurt you
Ooh, and I wish you would have waited for me but you always do

I've been hoping somebody loves you in the ways I couldn't
Somebody's taking care of all of the mess I've made
Someone you don't have to change
I've been hoping
Someone will love you, let me go
Someone will love you, let me go
I've been hoping
Someone will love you, let me go (go, go, go)
Someone will love you, let me go (go, go, go)
Someone will love you, let me go (go, go, go)
Someone will love you, let me go (go, go, go)
Someone will love you, let me go

I've been hoping somebody loves you in the ways I couldn't
Somebody's taking care of all of the mess I've made
Someone you don't have to change
I've been hoping
Someone will love you, let me go

Cover art for Let It Go lyrics by Hailee Steinfeld

Lyrics are self-explanatory, it's about a love relationship that have gone sour.

Hailee: "More than ever in the last couple months in my life, I've experienced what it's like to try and maintain a relationship while working," she explained to Teen Vogue. "You realise that when you love someone so much and you can't give them the time, and the energy that they deserve, it's heartbreaking."

Hailee continued: "People have said Let Me Go feels like a break-up song but it really is a love song and it's about loving that person so much that all you want to do is see them happy and see them with somebody that makes them happy."

"Let Me Go" reminds me of a past relationship with a guy that I've known since childhood, who lives in my hometown. We dated very briefly and during that time I realized we were on different life paths. Great dude, but no chemistry. I broke up with him out of respect, because I want him to find someone who could love him for the great guy he is. He was hurt and refused to accept my decision, so I resorted to ignoring his calls/texts.

A year later, he called and asked for another chance. I felt guilty and said yes. But, still no chemistry. I broke up with him again, explaining that I wasn't happy. He pleaded, apologized, begged -- and here I am once again, ignoring his calls/texts. I want him to move on for his own good, and "let me go."
