Starving Lyrics
You know just what to say
Shit, that scares me, I should just walk away
But I can't move my feet
The more that I know you, the more I want to
Something inside me's changed
I was so much younger yesterday, oh
I didn't know that I was starving 'til I tasted you
Don't need no butterflies when you give me the whole damn zoo
By the way, by the way, you do things to my body
I didn't know that I was starving 'til I tasted you
(I didn't know that I-I didn't know that I-'til I tasted you)
(I didn't know that I-I didn't know that I-'til I tasted you)
By the way, by the way, you do things to my body
I didn't know that I was starving 'til I tasted you
You know just how to make my heart beat faster
Emotional earthquake, bring on disaster
You hit me head-on, got me weak in my knees
Yeah, something inside me's changed
I was so much younger yesterday, ye-eah
So much younger yesterday, oh, yeah
I didn't know that I was starving 'til I tasted you
Don't need no butterflies when you give me the whole damn zoo
By the way, by the way, you do things to my body
I didn't know that I was starving 'til I tasted you
(I didn't know that I-I didn't know that I-'til I tasted you)
(I didn't know that I-I didn't know that I-'til I tasted you)
By the way, by the way, you do things to my body
I didn't know that I was starving 'til I tasted you
You, yeah, 'til I tasted you
(I didn't know that I-I didn't know that I-'til I tasted you)
By the way, by the way, you do things to my body
I didn't know that I was starving 'til I tasted you, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Na-na-na-na
Na-na-na-na
The more that I know you, the more I want to
Something inside me's changed
I was so much younger yesterday
Shit, that scares me, I should just walk away
But I can't move my feet
The more that I know you, the more I want to
Something inside me's changed
I was so much younger yesterday, oh

The main lyric is a metaphor: "I didn't know that I was starving 'til I tasted you."
This is comparing falling in love to hunger, when that love brings a sense of completion. When we meet someone who is absolutely the right person, we realize how much that person completes our lives.
In more object translation, this means "I didn't know I was lonely until I fell in love with you."
The second main lyric, "by the way, by the way, you do things to my body," can be interpretted two ways. The first is simply a crude sexual reference. However, this is not likely. Why would she tell her lover that they have sex? Instead, this is referring to a visceral reaction, which women in particular experience, when they fall in love. The presence of the other person, with whom they feel complete, causes sexual arousal, because the draw of the other person is so powerful.
"Yeah, something inside me's changed I was so much younger yesterday, ye-eah" This means that falling in love with this person has made her grow. It is a transformative experience, where she has become a more mature person by realizing the depth of what true love feels like.
"Don't need no butterflies when you give me the whole damn zoo" This is another reference to the depth of true love. True love (a whole zoo) dwarfs the experience of "butterflies in the stomach" (lust, anticipation).
I like that these lyrics are vague enough to be interpreted as either something sexual or romantic metaphors. I personally like to think it's the latter. "I didn't know that I was starving 'til I tasted you" could be interpreted sexually, but I think it basically means that she didn't realize how much she wanted this person in her life until she started getting to know them. This is backed up by the lyric "the more that I know you, the more I want to."
I'm an old soul, meaning I like stuff from the 1960's, 1970's, & 1980's, but I LOVE this song! It's about how a girl became more mature after she starting dating a guy!
Silence Of The Lambs, vis-a-vis, Hannibal?!?!?
When you taste snippets of solid connection with friends, family and lover/s - you lose your appetite for sex and food. Simple as that. I believe strongly in My Opinion.
