The False Awakening

When it comes to an end and stays the same
Then waking repeats and fools you again
As slumber forges this surreal place
And nightmares invade your sacred space
Paralytic lifeless decay
No choice but to abide
This existence in vain
Surviving a dream with freedom in sight
As you open your eyes, but nothing seems right
Something uncertain, reality fakes
The life that lingers as daylight breaks
Forced unto me, this misery
The calling of unwonted sounds
Unleash the nightmare again
And in this body
Frozen, here I lay
See through these tired eyes
That slumber can not contain
With eyes now open
Shadows still remain
Within this moment
All I can do is pray
Consumed by the tremor that's taken your voice
To fall into madness is your only choice
Return to the nightmare never to find
The fear that becomes you, and tortures your mind
Slaves of time, unending
Abide the false awakening
Descend into an endless spiral
Victim of this vicious cycle
Never finding absolution
Crying out in desperation
The nightmare strikes again
Why can't you see my pain?
Consumed by darkest night
There is no end in sight
Just endless madness
