on a page torn from this book
i drew a waveform with your blood
and so i follow it and so remorse
courses through my body of course

in a little while
i'll go
unless you might wanna hang a while
then i won't
you're the only one i found so far
so outside i could be around
so come down
come over!

on a cutting board
the lights were shutting down
an avocado cut through your thumb
coursing out, already undone

in a little while
i'll go
unless you might wanna hang a while
then i won't
you're the only one i found so far
so outside i could be around
so come down

over through the fire escape
it's so late but i know you aren't tired yet
i'll bet you've got a couple things you think i should know
but unless you wanna say em now
i'll go

From Gold Flake Paint in 2016, Evan talked about what Waveform was about:

“Waveform is a song about what it means to turn suffering, or friction, or just emotional content, into an object of art,” he continues. “’I drew a waveform with your blood’ is the clearest way I’ve tried to express the red imagery on the album; the blood being the content of what I’m making this musical sculpture out of. It’s expressing the line between the physicality of art as an object and the ephemerality of the music.”

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
