Feasting on the Flowers Lyrics
I was walking through the streets I could not hear my best friend call
He was feeling incomplete about to take his final fall
Last thing I remember there were tears of blood and just not mine
Any other day and I would save you from this cold decline
Everything they said about everything
Was a coming undone it's a life supreme
I do and I don't, well I do and I don't, Oh yeah
Feasting on the flowers so fast and young
It's a light so bright that I bite my tongue
I do and I don't, well I do and I don't, Oh yeah
The next dimension, show me in
We were moving in the world, expanding your realities
A force of nature on the verge, commanding abnormalities
Last thing I remember there was ringing in my selfish ears
Twenty-Six a number much too small for someone's golden years
Everything they said about everything
Was a coming undone it's a life supreme
I do and I don't, well I do and I don't, Oh yeah
Feasting on the flowers so fast and young
It's a light so bright that I bit my tongue
I do and I don't, well I do and I don't, Oh yeah
The next dimension, show me in
You get a little bit more this time when
You give a little bit for your brother's kind
Like she always said, "Oh, Don't look back, just look ahead"
You sign a little bit stronger when you
Remember the song of your old best friend
Like she always said, "Oh, Don't look back, just look ahead"
Everything they said about everything
Was a coming undone it's a life supreme
I do and I don't, well I do and I don't, Oh yeah
Feasting on the flowers so fast and young

Well, it's pretty easy to say. It's about AK best friend Hillel Slovak. 1st verse: describs the moments before Hillel's death. Hillel's brother - James, said that right before to take the lethal dose, Hillel called him. So maybe, Hillel also tried to call Anthony, but that time Anthony was high somewhere on the streets, hotels, etc. So Anthony couldn't answer. And when Kiedis stopped using drugs and came home, his girlfriend was crying and yelling at him, about Hillel's death. Also, AK regrets that he couldn't save him.
"Everything they said about everything Was a coming undone it's a life supreme I do and I don't, well I do and I don't, oh yeah"
-I guess, it's about how other people reacted to Hillel death, cuz parents and friends of Hillel thoughts that AK was the reason why Hillel started using drugs. And AK told, that it's just a life, and Hillel started the game with drugs by his own decision and failed.
"The next dimension show me in " — imho, it's affect of high.
"We were moving in the world, expanding your realities" — It means that they travel around and literally expanding realities by their music or drugs.
"A force of nature on the verge, commanding abnormalities" — this line about getting high, force of nature=drugs, on the verge=on the needle.
"Last thing I remember there was ringing in my selfish ears Twenty-six a number much too small for someone's golden years" — pretty clear line, and 26-age when Hillel died.
That's what I see in this song, so if I realize something new, i will add.
@assan97236 this is an amazing breakdown of the song. I applaud you.... ????

Also, Feasting on the Flowers. Hillel Slovak had overdosed by heroin, and heroin is produced by poppy flowers. And "feasting" means the way that Hillel used heroin.
@assan97236 this is a fantastic addition... I, along with the universe, tip my hat to you...

with this song being about hillel\'s death, it\'s sad that klinghoffer was playing guitar. it should have been john. it\'s still a great song, but john should\'ve been the guitarist for the track. I\'m with you was a stellar album, and the getaway was really good, but unlimited love was only average. I\'m hoping and praying that this isn\'t the decline of rhcp...
