The familiar sound of my alarm clock
Wakes me up at half past eight
Everything seeming normal
Until I assess my mind's state
I quickly inject the numbness into my brain
Keeping the demons at bay...
An endless stream of traffic lights
As I submerge myself into the fray
My eardrums captured the sound of your laughter
As you were chatting away
The light illuminated in your eyes
Always gave me hope for a better day
What if I came to you that night
Instead of being locked in my selfish ways?
Maybe then I'd be beside you
Falling victim to your graceful gaze...
Eyes turn to the sky
I ask "Why is this happening to me?!
"If you're truly the God you say they are
"Why would you put me through this misery?!"
The people stirring around
Prancing on with their fancy lives
As I am stuck standing here
A stone statue with shattered eyes...
Now realizing
Her spirit lies
Inside of me
