As stated by their singer Ronny Munroe, Generation Nothing is kind of a sad state out there for the youth now that they do not have the things that we used to have when I was growing up. The song critiques the current state of the younger generation, depicting a generation that lacks ambition and purpose, symbolized by walking a "crooked path" and never returning. They have no dreams, only plans and schemes that they keep to themselves. Young individuals feel as though they are drifting aimlessly through life, wasting their time without any purpose or fulfillment and living in existential despair. It highlights the importance of finding meaning and purpose and encourages those listening to avoid falling into the same trap of apathy and emptiness.
