I think it's about someone who's invested in their career, and works with someone who isn't that into his career as they are, similar to how the singer's Devin Oliver has these issues with former unclean vocalist Zach Johnson.
Eventually, the other person left him, like how Zach left the band to form his own. He wishes his old friend good luck, but he does express frustration-
