my take.... The song is about two twins that loved each other dearly and one day suddenly one of them dies. The other twin cannot believe what has happened and struggles as his world is turned upside down. Over the years he has become cold and distant and never really feels happiness. He loses his soul to the darkness. He hopes that one day he will see his twin again.

Usually love songs are sung by the lover to the person who’s being loved. To me this song does the complete opposite, it is written by the person receiving the love. And unfortunately, the love isn’t mutual. “Turn that page for me.” I can see the receiver begging the lover to forget about them because they simply cannot love them back. However, I can see the respect and -platonic- love that the receiver has for the lover, and how they don’t want to hurt them anymore, so it would be better for them to separate. —- Alternative: A love song between an angel and a demon, and it is sung by the demon.

To me this is this a spiritual journey of fantasy, of two kindred spirits -Twin Flame souls - on their epic story over many lifetimes. Sometimes together, sometimes apart - from their incarnation of pure energy and love to where they are today...

Here we are, riding the sky - this signifies the eternal purity and destiny of twin flames souls eternally entwined together throughout the universe at the highest level

Painting the night with sun - where together we shine so brightly, like the sun illuminating the night

To me the song is about two lovers, separated by war, when they meet again years later, they are changed, as the one who went off to fight the war, left a piece of his soul there, an empty shell plagued by nightmares of what they went through. I would go more in depth on this angle of viewing the song, but I don’t want to make this too long.
