I think the song is about being so in love, you really care for this person to the point where you'd do anything for them. Saying that if they could fly, they would be coming right back home to you. It's also saying "I think I might, give up everything just ask me to" This person obviously is something special if you would give up everything for them .

"Pay attention I hope that you listen, cause I let my guard down, right now i'm completely defenseless." Basically, they're saying that this person means so much to them, that they are defenseless and can just let their guard down, and be whoever they are.

"For your eyes only, I show you my heart. For when you're lonely, and forget who you are- i'm missing half of me, when we're apart, now you know me- for your eyes only.." They're saying that whoever this "person" is, they only show them who they truly are. They must not be an open person, and are kept inside, keeping everything hidden but now they have this person who they must love, and they are showing him/her everything they have to offer- and who they are underneath- but only for their eyes.

this song makes me cry every single time. it's a conversation.

first verse: person A and person B have gone through a lot clearly. they've strived to remain together in the face of aversion and difficulty. they're being kept apart, maybe due to a career or some other factor that doesn't allow them to be together. they're questioning if whatever is keeping them apart is worth it anymore, even if it impassioned them at some point. person A 'would give up everything' if the other person decided that their love was more important.

chorus: "for your eyes only" implies that what they share is intimate, a secret. but it's okay because they have each other. even if no one else in the whole world understands or knows or sees, it's okay because they do.

verse 2: whatever they've gone through, it's damaged them emotionally and/or mentally. they've hidden their "scars", bit their tongue, and kept going. person B is saying how person A is the only thing that helps them relax and makes them feel better, like they don't have to hide their "scars" anymore and that they don't have to hide themselves anymore. feeling release, at ease after a great deal of pain. the beginning of the verse is very raw and emotionally intense.

bridge: the EMOTION during this part is so raw and clear to the point where you feel it too. the pain, the difficulties, the stress, the longing. the end gets quiet though, and you see the person concluding that despite all that they've been through, they feel that it was worth it just to be together and they hope the other person thinks it was worth it too and won't leave them after all they've been through to make their love work.

this is one the best songs they have ever released, I LOVE IT!

i think the song is about trapped lovers

I am a pretty big Larry fan and I believe it is about that but I hope you can agree with me on some of my points.

If I could fly is a pretty weird title especially since it is not in the chorus and only used once throughout. Honestly, I think it's Harry talking about if he could be free from management and "fly".

If I could fly, I'd be coming right back home to you

This is saying he would go to Louis and be with him if they were free.

This honestly describes their relationship perfectly. Harry would do anything for him but Louis would never ask him to do that. (That's why they are perfect together)

Also, almost all of the very emotional parts of the song are sung by Louis and Harry.

Only the other one sees the true them and the love they share. Especially for the public. They have to be apart because it will look "suspicious" so they are apart and alone. Not truly being their normal self.

This part gets to me every time. They have dealt through so many hardships over the years with family deaths, their relationship and the group itself. Pain is not always physical and we all know that out of the whole band L&H have been through the most.

Chorus again Know that I'm just wasting time And I hope that you don't run from me

This part is crucial. They know that hiding their relationship is wasting their time together and both are scared of losing each other in the physical and emotional distance. I would kill to know every detail but sadly that won't happen. Even if you don't agree, this is one heck of an emotional song (not to mention incredible).
