Grand Canyon Lyrics

Lost as I may be
In the fog of my own noise and triviality
Grant, Holy Mother, grant me clarity
I am standing on the edge of forever... forever...

One among infinity
Witnessing the majesty
Calm in this humility
Witnessing the majesty
Hope as far as one can see
Witnessing the majesty [x3]
Standing on the edge of forever

Blessed that be in
This reawakening
Grand Holy Mother and my deadly slumber
To stand fearless from the edge of forever... forever...

One among infinity
Witnessing the majesty
Calm in this humility
Witnessing the majesty
Hope as far as one can see
Witnessing the majesty [x6]
Standing on the edge of forever

Hope as far
As one can see
As one can see
[x4]

I think this is about a possible thought of suicide at the edge of the Grand Canyon. And I’m sure it’s a place where Maynard finds solace as is, but I think it’s an outreach to people who struggle with this. I think it’s a “take a look at where you are and let Mother Nature do the talking for you and listen to her words” kind of thing, and saying it’s okay.

@purpleowl21 Maynard isn't the type, though I can see why you would go there. Sorry those thoughts cross your mind. It's more about acceptance of how small we are and taking the time to enjoy the view and be in the moment and do some stuff with your time here. So realize we are a speck in this infinity, don't dwell on trivial stuff in your life as it's ultimately unimportant so have some hope and joy as you are standing on the edge of forever(death, universe , the unknown?)
