All Your Yeahs Lyrics
Hush don't you cry
In the next life
She takes to the water
Don't say a word
And when I ask her
Is she doing alright
She's a rollercoaster
And yeah, she's a fire
In the night
Lay your dead flowers
All in a row
Sooner or later
We're gonna let them go
And when she asks me
Are we doing it right
Come a little closer
You've got nothing left to hide
Hush don't you cry
In the next life
And when they ask us
Are we happy inside
We're a rollercoaster
And yeah, we're a fire
In the night
What can you say
All your yeahs
It's your life
Do you right
Give them love
All your yeahs
What can you say
All your yeahs
It's your life
Do you right
Give them love and give them away
In the next life
She takes to the water
Don't say a word
Is she doing alright
She's a rollercoaster
And yeah, she's a fire
In the night
All in a row
Sooner or later
We're gonna let them go
Are we doing it right
Come a little closer
You've got nothing left to hide
In the next life
Are we happy inside
We're a rollercoaster
And yeah, we're a fire
In the night
All your yeahs
It's your life
Do you right
Give them love
All your yeahs
What can you say
All your yeahs
It's your life
Do you right
Give them love and give them away

The intensity of this cut blows me away even though it is such a mellow tune. Euphoric.
I believe that this lovely song is about a pair of young women who have feelings for each other despite all odds. By the second verse, they appear to be in a relationship: "And when she asks me, 'Are we doing it right?' Come a little closer you've got nothing left to hide." The lyrics, "It's your life, do you right." also add up to this theory.
This song is hauntingly beautiful, and I imagined it was first, about two trainwreck friends living in Brooklyn (I used to live in Williamsburg and remember her (singer of beach house) when she lived there, maybe she still does...but I also related to this song like that), then, after listening more, thought differently...
I think this song is a song more about a woman who had a miscarriage, and it deeply affected her. It starts off with a cut-and-chopped nursery rhyme. Intriguingly, to say the least, it brings up childhood ideas of nastalgia, but there’s a sadness to it alI. I feel it echoes between that loss, the expectation of a child, singing to a miscarried baby, and the reaction that woman had to give off to others as they are asked about how she feels about this loss. Although people ask out of concern, it’s still a constant reminder of pain. I’ve listened to this song a lot lately, and can’t relate to a miscarriage, but there’s something I just understand to the idea of saying “all your yeahs” to people trying to see if you’re alright, and you want to pretend you’re okay, so you hide behind all your yeahs. It’s a fire inside, I’d be a roller coaster of emotions for sure.
This song is about letting go and saying yes to life. Accepting that not everything in life has to make you happy, inner life is a rollercoaster (how awesome in that!). And to "do it right" you got to "give them away" ....give aways all your yeahs:) letting go of course.
