I believe this song is about a relationship that is over and what's left of it is black and white, contours, traces. She remembers the light and shape they've created together now that the relationship is only about contours.

She thinks about how her life has been so full of highs and lows in love, and how it's hard to see the bright side after a breakup. They are both waiting for the breakup afterglow to erase their bad breakup feelings and perhaps finally move on.

I think the last part "I've given up all I can" relates to how she gave up all she could to try and save the relationship but it still didn't work. Or perhaps how she is trying to give up on the great memories of the relationship just to be able to move on.
