Lost (Why Should I Be Frightened by a Hat) Lyrics
I dropped down again
From a star
On a desert island
Full of skies
And I saw a boy
Looking up
Dreaming of his future
From my past
Soon I drew an ocean
Tamed the sun
And I plunged my feet
Into the sand
Bit by bit I came
To understand
How I miss this freedom
And the swoosh of waves
(x3) Come, follow me
We'll go down where the river flows
One day, just you and I
We'll find the bridge to the neverland
I was frightened of
A thousand hats
Bouncing off the answers
Losing pride
Had a fear of failure
And true love
But I don't regret that
I am what I lost
(x2) Come, follow me
We'll go down where the river flows
One day, just you and I
We'll find the bridge to the neverland
From a star
On a desert island
Full of skies
And I saw a boy
Looking up
Dreaming of his future
From my past
Soon I drew an ocean
Tamed the sun
And I plunged my feet
Into the sand
Bit by bit I came
To understand
How I miss this freedom
And the swoosh of waves
We'll go down where the river flows
One day, just you and I
We'll find the bridge to the neverland
A thousand hats
Bouncing off the answers
Losing pride
Had a fear of failure
And true love
But I don't regret that
I am what I lost
We'll go down where the river flows
One day, just you and I
We'll find the bridge to the neverland

I think it's about a breakup?
all this full album is about a yearning of the past.... this song is about growing up... One day you and I....(the kid I was and me as an adult)
The subtitle (as well as the bulk of the song) is a reference to The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. An adult says to the narrator as a child, "Why should I be frightened of a hat?" -- he fails to understand that it's not a drawing of a hat, but of a giant boa constrictor digesting an elephant. I think this song is about yearning to regain a childlike imagination.
