Where Did You Go Lyrics
Distaste and ignorance
Are the closest friends can go
Cause you cannot love someone
Who you never tried to know
I am the wind that
Keeps blowing against your coat
But you are persistent
As you press on down the road
Where did you go?
Where did you go?
Where did you go?
Where did you go?
A poem won’t last for long
But a rhyme can’t give you hope
A blue collar love don’t fit
In a hearts white collar hole
I’m like a rogue wave
Just crashing on your floor
But You are consistent
Like a barnacle on shore
Where did you go?
Where did you go?
Where did you go?
Where did you go?
You’re gonna find me
Saving a place for you
When you’re all alone
And you’re tired of being used
There’s no need for crying
I carry no blame for you
Don’t be afraid
I have paid to make it new
I don’t care where you’ve been
I was there and I know
I don’t care what you’ve done
Or how far you’ve run
Will you just come home
I don’t care where you’ve been
I was there and I know
I don’t care what you’ve done
Or how far you’ve run
Will you just come home
Where did you go?
Where did you go?
Are the closest friends can go
Cause you cannot love someone
Who you never tried to know
Keeps blowing against your coat
But you are persistent
As you press on down the road
Where did you go?
Where did you go?
Where did you go?
But a rhyme can’t give you hope
A blue collar love don’t fit
In a hearts white collar hole
Just crashing on your floor
But You are consistent
Like a barnacle on shore
Where did you go?
Where did you go?
Where did you go?
Saving a place for you
When you’re all alone
And you’re tired of being used
I carry no blame for you
Don’t be afraid
I have paid to make it new
I was there and I know
I don’t care what you’ve done
Or how far you’ve run
Will you just come home
I was there and I know
I don’t care what you’ve done
Or how far you’ve run
Will you just come home

I could be wrong, but to me this song screams "Prodigal Son". I probably heard this song at least a dozen times before I REALLY started listening to the lyrics, and that's when it became sort of a personal letter from God to me.
Only a small handful of songs have ever made me tear up, and this song has made me bawl on multiple occasions. It transformed the head knowledge of "I have this sin in my life and it's not okay" into a truly broken heart.
Better yet, it's not even close to being a shameful broken heart... it's a redemptive broken heart.
