To me, this song is a powerful anthem of never giving up, no matter how out of place you feel. “Astronaut on the ocean floor” and “Bird with a broken wing” are contradictions between someone’s dreams and their reality. Someone who wants to fly but is limited to staying on the ground, but continuing to press on until the day they can fly again—and choosing to make the most of it. They can’t fly, but they can still sing, and sing they will.
