Upward Mobility Lyrics
Where have you been since the morning
And where did you go and who did you call
Had your release but you know that
Your heart is with me there's no other way then
Dragged me along with your stories but I always knew
Maybe I'm wrong to believe you but I always do
Yeah I always do
What did you see there did you witness
No more would you say no more would you share then
Dragged me along with your stories but I always knew
Maybe I'm wrong to believe you but I always do
Yeah I always do
Have your fun when you go there
Who will you see who will you call
Have your release but you know that
Your heart isn't free your hands aren't clean
Drag me along with your stories well you always do
Maybe I'm wrong to believe you when I always lose
Tried for so long to trust you but I always lose
Tried for so long to believe you but I always knew
Yeah I always knew
And where did you go and who did you call
Had your release but you know that
Your heart is with me there's no other way then
Maybe I'm wrong to believe you but I always do
Yeah I always do
No more would you say no more would you share then
Maybe I'm wrong to believe you but I always do
Yeah I always do
Who will you see who will you call
Have your release but you know that
Your heart isn't free your hands aren't clean
Maybe I'm wrong to believe you when I always lose
Tried for so long to trust you but I always lose
Tried for so long to believe you but I always knew
Yeah I always knew

It's definitely about a lover being unfaithful and lying about it. Personally I think the whole "cheating" mess is stupid and a direct consequence of our cultural expectation of monogamy, which is frankly unrealistic for many people. It's the lying that really hurts; it's the real sin. But somehow our protagonist is too enchanted or timid or weak to actually do anything even though he is hurt. Maybe this is intended just to make the lover know she isn't being so clever, that it's plainly obvious.
