Aftermath Lyrics

War is all around
I'm growing tired of fighting
I've been drained
And I can't hide it

But I have a strength for you
You're all that's real anymore
I am coming home now
I need your comfort

From this moment
From this moment
You'll never be alone
We're bound together
Now and forever
The loneliness has gone

States are crumbling
And walls are rising high again
It's no place for the faint hearted
But my heart is strong
Because now I know where I belong
It's you and I against the world
We are free

From this moment
From this moment
You'll never be alone
We're bound together
Now and forever
The loneliness has gone

We've gone against the tide
All we have is each other now
I am coming home now
I need your comfort

From this moment
From this moment
You'll never be alone
We're bound together
Now and forever
The loneliness has gone

From this moment
From this moment
You'll never be alone
We're bound together
Now and forever
The loneliness has gone

So about four minutes through the song, the ominous guitar comes in and it almost seems like he is singing to a drone; that he's accepted drones, he and the drone are bound together, his only friend. That or it's just another Muse apocalyptic romance song which is cool too

This song is about the aftermath of the war against drones. The protagonist has finally regained his humanity and has grown stronger in spirit than ever before. He has overcome the challenges he faced during his time in war. 'Aftermath' is about the protagonist going back to someone he loved, who also felt alone and was used like he was used. This song is the protagonist telling his love that even though "walls are rising high again" and "it's no place for the faint-hearted', his heart is strong, and he cannot be controlled/manipulated again. He is coming back home to be her savior and protector against anything that wants to harm her. This song is the reverse of 'Dead Inside'. He is no longer a victim of loneliness and insecurity, he is a hero and a catalyst of hope and strength to his loved one.
